NW Quik Pull The Best Stump Removal Landscaping Tool Out There
NW Quik Pull will be heading to the Equip Exposition, co-located with Hardscape North America, in Louisville KY in October 2022. It is the premiere tradeshow for landscape contractors, outdoor power equipment dealers, distributors, and manufacturers. Equip Exposition will offer expanded education opportunities and features to enhance the exhibitor and attendee experience. We have known for some time that NW Quik Pull is not just a post puller. It is also a great landscaping tool, removing small trees, stumps, shrubs, arborvitae, bamboo, and grape vine, without digging! We recently helped a friend of ours with a landscaping job removing a couple of stumps which he did not want to strain his back by digging up!
NW Quik Pull For Stump Removal
Our friend Jeff told us about a couple of old stumps he had in his back yard which he wanted to remove so that he could add on to his deck, and add a hot tub to his backyard oasis. He asked if our tool was up for the challenge, and of course we said it was!
When we arrived, Jeff showed us the 2 stumps which were relatively close to the house. Obviously in the way of adding a hot tub to that space! Because Jeff had used our tool before, he was quick to get to work on the first stump. Sometimes removing stumps or trees requires more pulls than your basic post. And it almost always requires moving the chain around and resetting the tripod in different places in order to break all the roots loose. It is also suggested that you have a digging bar standing by to use to prop up the stump as it comes loose so that you can cinch up the chain to continue to pull.
That first stump removal took about 15 minutes, but our friend was impressed because using the leverage of the handle with the chain attached to it and wrapped around the stump was much easier and faster than digging. He moved on to the next small stump removal which took him even less time. Then he showed us another project he wanted done, and asked if NW Quik Pull could take care of that too. On the other side of his yard, he had previously had a rather large Lilac tree. He said that the heavy snow we had a few months previous had damaged the tree so badly that he had to cut it down. What he showed us was two stumps rather close to each other about a foot in diameter each. He said he was considering hiring someone with a stump grinder to come in and take care of them but that was going to cost him about $300. We told him our tool would save him some money!
This stump removal took longer than the first two combined, but it was accomplished. The process was much the same as the smaller stump removals. First we wrapped the chain around the lower stump and pulled. After some movement and breaking of roots happened, we moved the tool around to a different position and pulled some more. Then we realized that the upper stump was in the way of removing the lower one. So we wrapped the chain around that one and did some more pulling. Once some of the roots were broke loose, we placed some wood under the roots to prop it up in order to cinch up the chain some more. At one point it became obvious that we were pulling the stump right up against the tool and making no progress.
That just meant that we moved the tool again to another position and pulled some more. One of the stumps had a very large tap root which we were able to get the chain around and pull on the root only. That helped make great progress. After the upper stump was removed, the lower one came out with ease. Just a couple more pulls and it was out of the ground also. Jeff was quite happy with our tool that day. He said he couldn’t believe how much work was done in such a short time and all without digging!
