Our Story And Mission

It was in 2017 when Rowdy Sloggett needed his fence repaired due to a winter storm breaking off a fence post. He hired a professional fence repair man, and when he went to pay him, he asked what the hardest part of the job was. His new fence friend stated that the hardest, most time consuming part of fence repair is removing the broken off post and the concrete plug holding the post in place. He stated that he loved his job, but that one thing was a very significant problem for him.

Rowdy had been a steel fabricator throughout his life, and had gone to college for mechanical engineering. He decided that he would come up with a solution for his new friends problem. He did some research on Google, and watched videos on YouTube to see different ideas. He found quite a few possible solutions which didn’t seem to be all that safe, but gave him ideas. Through much trial and error, he fabricated NW Quik Pull.

He gave his first prototype to his fence friend to try out. His friend put the tool to work, and offered suggestions on making the tool better. Rowdy made corrections and improvements over a time frame of a couple years. He began to consider how he could build a business out of manufacturing and selling his post puller.

It was in early 2019 when Rowdy was joining Facebook where he could spread the word about his post puller when he connected with Kelly, who is now his wife. They had actually met many years earlier and had been in the same places together on multiple occasions, so they knew each other some what.

Chatting on Facebook Messenger quickly led to friendship, phone calls, dates, road trips, and eventually a relationship. In October 2019, Rowdy and Kelly were married, and then Kelly began to get involved in the post puller business. Because Kelly was an engineer in the Navy for 21 years, she had a lot to bring to the business. Not only does she bring the labels of Woman and Veteran Owner, she also brings her mechanical background so she is quick to help Rowdy in the manufacturing end of the business when needed.

Kelly quickly took over the marketing; including social media, and the financial aspects of the business. In June 2020, she began placing calls to local Fence companies stating that she would bring NW Quik Pull to one of their repair jobs and pull a post or two for them. Almost every time, she made the sale. Rowdy says, “When my wife came into the business and took over marketing, that’s when the magic started to happen! Without her, people wouldn’t know about this tool!”

Rowdy and Kelly have worked hard to get NW Quik Pull into the hands of as many people as possible. When Rowdy invented the tool, he invented it for just one reason, to help the fencer. As time has gone by, they have found that their tool solves many other problems too. NW Quik Pull is not just a Fence Post Puller. It is also a landscaping tool and can pull small trees, shrubs, bamboo, and grapevines. They also discovered that it makes a great rental tool because maybe the average home owner doesn’t need to own the tool. NW Quik Pull also works well with pulling out large event tent stakes.

The Sloggetts have found success in attending Trade Shows where they can share their story with a multitude of people over a 2 to 3 day period. They have attended the World Agriculture Show, The American Rental Association show, The California Rental Association show, and FENCETECH, the largest fence industry show. All of these shows have helped them to make connectons with the right people, and sales are increasing. Stay tuned to see where they will go next!
