The Bull Pull Verses The NW Quik Pull

A few months ago, I met John with Fix-A-Fence LLC in Portland Oregon on Social Media. He and I are in the same Fence Industry groups on Facebook and he noticed one of my posts about the NW Quik Pull. He shared that he had been a long time fan of another fence post puller called the Bull Pull, but he was interested in learning more about our tool.

Bull Pull

John and I took our conversation off line and he suggested that we get together and do a comparison between his beloved Bull Pull and the NW Quik Pull. I thought that was a great idea because I was pretty sure that we would be able to convince my new friend that we have the superior tool. Many years ago when my husband Rowdy Sloggett was inventing the NW Quik Pull, he had the opportunity to talk many times with Matt the owner and inventor of the Bull Pull. Talking with Matt about his tool and his business gave Rowdy quite a few pointers about the creation of the NW Quik Pull.

It’s Finally Competition Day The NW Quik Pull & The Bull Pull Square Off

We met John on his job site where he had his crew preparing to remove the old fence, and his cameraman at the ready. The job required removing some old fence posts with the concrete plug. He had already had his crew dig around each of the concrete plugs where the posts were broken off. This made it pretty easy to wrap the chain around the top edge of the concrete and pull.

Bull Pull

With some basic instruction, Johns crew made light work pulling a post with the NW Quik Pull. Both John and his crew were quick to see the differences between Bull Pull and our tool. Some similarities are that both tools work on the premise of leverage, and they are both manual so neither require hydraulics, pneumatics, or an engine. They are both also lightweight. While the NW Quik Pull weighs a little more than Bull Pull, it comes apart so that the tripod can be carried in one hand while the handle and chain can be carried in the other, balancing out the load as it is carried onto the job site.

Head To Head Comparison Highlights The Differences Between The Bull Pull & The NW Quik Pull

The major difference between these tools was obvious. The NW Quik Pull has a tripod design which makes our tool more stable than other post pullers on the market.  Bull Pull basically stands on one foot requiring a person to hold it upright while using the lever to apply pressure for the pull. This makes the tool less stable which means there are times that two people are required for safe operation. Another difference is that Bull Pull has up to 7,000lbs of pulling power while The NW Quik Pull has 10,000lbs of pulling power!

As we were making the comparison, John told us that he had known Matt who invented Bull Pull also. He further shared that last year he had received a call from Matt’s wife telling him that Matt had passed away. John was unclear whether Bull Pull was still in business or not, so he was saddened by the news that he may not be able to continue to purchase his beloved tool. Good thing that John saw The NW Quik Pull on Facebook that day!

At the end of our little competition John told us he is now a believer in the NW Quik Pull. He bought one tool that day, and he has purchased a second one since then.
