Can The Best Manual Fest Post Puller On The Market Be A Great Landscaping Tool As Well?

NW Quik Pull was originally fabricated to be a fence post puller. However, over time we have found that the versatility of the tool makes it a great landscaping tool also. Specifically, a shrub, small tree, old stump, arborvitae, rhododendron, bamboo, or grapevine removal tool.

Putting Our Reputation Where Our Mouths Are With Our Landscaping Tool

If you don’t know already, we really like NW Quik Pull. You could say that we are huge fans of our awesome tool. What we really like to do is advertise to our community and ask if anyone has a post, tree or shrub that they need removed. When someone contacts us, we let them know about our tool, and that we will come and attempt to remove their unwanted shrub, stump, vine, tree or post because we’re always looking to show off how versatile our tool can be!

A Truly Versatile Landscaping Tool That Can Remove All Kinds Of Things

One day last year, we went and helped a friend with a rather large landscaping removal project. She had an area in her yard that had an arborvitae, a rose bush, and a couple of rhododendron bushes she wanted removed. She knew that this task would involve a whole lot of digging which she was really not looking forward to. She asked us if we wanted to come and assist her with our tool, we jumped at the chance to prove that the NW Quik Pull could be used as a landscaping tool.

These shrubs were all in a row in her yard. The first thing to do was to cut down the majority of each shrub. The bigger the tree or shrub, the more it gets in the way of using the NW Quik Pull. However, you want to leave enough of a trunk length in order to be able to use the trunk as leverage if needed. So leaving the trunk height to 3 or 4 foot tall is ideal for removal.

We went with the easy shrubs first. The rose bush was our first target, and it came out with little effort because it was a pretty small bush. Next we tackled the arborvitae, which was not such an easy pull. These types of shrubs have deep root systems which are typically spread out and a real challenge for any landscaping tool to pull out. We first pulled with the chain wrapped directly around the trunk. This worked to pull some of the roots loose, but it also required that we reposition the NW Quik Pull a few times in order to get all the roots pulled. As we broke the arborvitae loose, we would also use a digging bar to pry up the root ball in order to hold it in place while cinching up the chain in order to get in another pull. This type of shrub removal usually requires 2 people because there is much more involved than pulling out a post. A second person using a digging bar to pry up the roots while the other person operates the NW Quik Pull is most beneficial.

Next was the rhododendron which has a root ball like the arborvitae. Again we attached the chain around the main part of the trunk and pulled. We broke loose the roots after a few pulls, then repositioned the Quik Pull and pulled some more. As the roots came loose, we also wrapped the chain around some of the exposed roots and pulled. The digging bar method of holding up the root ball while cinching up the chain was used here also. We continued to work the NW Quik Pull landscaping tool around the trunk in different positions and different parts of the roots until we had the whole rhododendron removed.

The second rhododendron was taken out in less time than the first two shrubs. One of the great things about NW Quik Pull is that it is a simple tool. It only takes a little bit of instruction for anyone to become skilled in the use of it. My friend was very grateful that day that we share our tool with her. She was amazed at how quickly she learned how to use the tool, and she got the job done in only a few hours without digging! She became a new fan of NW Quik Pull that day!
