On a recent sunny day, we were scheduled to demonstrate NW Quik Pull to a couple workers who work for Dick’s Evergreen Fence and Deck in Hillsboro Oregon. We met Frank and Jose on their jobsite at an apartment complex where they were removing an old fence in order to build a new one.
When we arrived, they were already set to working. They showed us the tool they were currently using to pull old fence posts. It was an A-frame shaped structure made of pipe which they would maneuver over the fence post and then hang a Come Along on it and pull the post out. (See Picture) Frank said that it does work, but it is large and bulky, and takes up a lot of room on their truck. And it also can take 2 people to set it up and use it.

They were both excited to see how small and portable NW Quik Pull is! They showed us the posts they were working to remove and we set up to give them instruction, and a demonstration. These fence posts were set in place before the concrete sidewalks were poured, so pulling these posts required a little bit of ingenuity. Also, most of these posts were in pretty bad shape; meaning they were pretty rotted at the base where they meet the ground. So there were 2 different issues to deal with when pulling these particular posts.
In regards to the post being so close to the sidewalk, the best way to handle that was to pull the post at an angle away from the concrete sidewalk. This was not too difficult on the post that wasn’t broken off at the base.
As for the broken off post, the best way to handle this was to dig away at the top of the concrete, maybe 2 or 3 inches, just enough to get the chain around the concrete in order to pull it. Since this one was also right up against the sidewalk, NW Quik Pull was set up so that the concrete could be pulled away from the sidewalk instead of straight up which is how it usually works.
Both Frank and Jose gave NW Quik Pull a try and quickly decided that it is a much better tool than they were currently using. They purchased one right then and said that they may eventually need more! A couple weeks later, I was contacted by the owner of Dick’s Evergreen Fence and Decks saying that he needed 2 more NW Quik Pulls!
